Style Advice of the Week

While stripes and polka-dots are versatile and classic prints; have you ever noticed that those patterns are what makes up about a quarter of the clothes that’s in your closet?  In order to add some variety to your wardrobe, try taking a style tip from this Fashionista by choosing a tribal print. Our girl here wears a gray suede jacket lined with faux fur, a black knit skirt with leggings and leather boots, making the tribal print pop against the solid colors. She accessorizes with a floral print clutch and stylish wayfarer tortoise eyewear. If recreating the sample look, check out this great tribal print sweater from Windsor.

Tribal print made its runway debut in spring 2010 and has been trending yearlong ever since. From silk dresses, wool sweaters and graphic tees, this rustic print can be worn many ways with a variety of combinations, making it a must have wardrobe addition for any season.

When it comes to styling tribal print, there are two options. The first is following this Fashionista’s chic example by pairing a knit tribal top with other solid colors and a few textured pieces. For the Fashionsta or Fashionisto wanting to accessorize a tribal look, try adding a pair of clear lens tortoise glasses – with this kind of accessory anyone can look smart and sophisticated.  For a more bold look, another possible tribal combination is to pull colors from within the print, like a dark red, navy and mustard yellow. From there, use a color blocking scheme to accessorize shoes and jewelry that match the colors within the print. While the Fashionista’s look is more subtle, it in turn has more potential combinations because of the neutral color palette.
