As the fall semester begins, you look around and see that campus is engulfed in Nike shorts and oversized T-shirts. Sadly, you might be tempted to go to the campus bookstore and purchase a similar outfit. But have no fear! I am here to tell you to reject the norm and go for an outfit that looks effortlessly comfortable and best of all, stylish.
An easy and simple alternative is a dress. Dresses can be the staple of an outfit because they are versatile and can be accessorized with just about anything. Instead of wearing an oversized T-shirt and Norts (Nike shorts), you can slip on a dress and go. It’s an outfit in itself and can be adapted from day to night.
On a sunny day, why not go for a casual dress? This Fashionista wears a thin, baby blue dress covered in a floral print. These kinds of dresses are perfect when you’re on the go, for walks at the park or days when you have five classes back-to-back. Sometimes when you wake up and find out you’re late to that huge biology class, all you have to do is slip on that sundress. Even though you’ll be late, you can at least dress to impress. You can find floral dresses in many stores like Lulu’s or ASOS.
This Fashionista has so many cute accessories that complements her dress. Many cheap accessories can be found in two of my favorite places, Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe. She wears a chevron rope belt, which enhances her vivacious curves. She also wears coral chandelier earrings that bring out the accented colors in her dress. On her right arm, she wears a simple gold cable bracelet along with her high school ring. Accessorizing a dress isn’t hard and looks so great.
It is very easy and tempting to wear something you may be used to seeing around campus, but a dress can go a long way. They take five seconds to put on and are so much more flattering. It can also bring about more confidence. You’ll feel good about yourself and can take on your day!
Coco Chanel said it best: “Fashion has two purposes: comfort and love. Beauty comes when fashion succeeds.”
