STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Dress For Your Hair Color

Style Advice of the Week

I remember looking through countless magazine articles when I was little to find the pages titled things like “What Colors Suit You?” I guess that was the beginning of my interest in fashion. I don’t know why, but suddenly I was so interested in finding what colors work best for everyone I knew based on his or her skin tone and hair color.  It’s not like I was someone who went around giving people fashion advice. I was an eight-year-old whose wardrobe consisted of sequined T-shirts and arm socks. To this day, this information is ingrained in my head. So, when I spotted this Fashionista, I immediately thought back to those old magazines and how perfectly a model’s outfit complemented her ginger locks!

This Fashionista’s olive green button-down shirt complements her red hair and fair skin! She paired this with an ivory and black striped cardigan and medium wash jeans. The olive green shirt stands out against the neutrals and adds a polished touch to the casual outfit. She finished off the look with a pair of beige ankle boots. My personal favorite accessories were her tortoise shell glasses and her red hair! Her outfit is comfortable yet fashion-forward; perfect for a busy day in the printmaking studio.

I bet you’re all curious now as to what color suits your hair color best! For people with blonde hair, light colors like lavender or peach will complement your light hair. Redheads will stand out in earth tones like the olive green this Fashionista wore and will also look great in gold. Dark hair looks great with jewel tones like emerald green and bright red. Remember, these are only suggestions, and ultimately the colors that suit you best are the ones you feel the most confident in!
