STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Don’t Be Over Overalls

I wore stretchy plastic chokers when I was a child, and I find myself desiring one now. I sported adidas Superstars throughout elementary school, which are one of the biggest comeback trends today. My middle part from first grade challenges my 19-year-old middle part. I thought I was over my Children’s Place overalls in fifth grade when they seemed childish and ill-filled bras seemed more worthy of closet space, but this Fashionista stirs up an admiring image of the Olsen twins in overalls at age 10 that can only spark a quickness in action to get that look.

Overalls are one of those multi-purpose pieces that don’t restrict themselves to one season or formality. Denim, leather, long, short, polka-dotted or this Fashionista’s striped overalls can be distorted into varied looks with the application of accessories, the undershirt and importantly, shoes. With a pair of battered Keds and an acid-washed crop top, this Fashionista embodies an all grown up version of the care free child that the style originated from.

Maybe us Millennials just love throwbacks, or maybe the popularity of music festivals has created a trendy style that can be mimicked for every day wear. The fact is that overalls are trendy. Do you think your mom would ever think to hear that statement after tossing your pair from 2003 in the Salvation Army bin?

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Honestly, it really isn’t easy being a rockstar. No, but really, this isn’t a trend you want to miss out on.”
