You know a few of those so-called fashion rules out there: no white after Labor Day, you must wear a belt if your shirt is tucked in, don’t wear socks with open-toed shoes and no double denim? Well, Fashionista/os, it’s time to break some of those rules!
One of the greatest things about fashion and style is that it has no rules. Fashion allows room for rule-breaking which leads the way for new trends and styles to occur. If you want to wear something, wear it. This is how you are able to find and evolve your own, unique style and build a wardrobe you are proud of.
This Fashionisto chose to break the so-called, “no double denim rule” and I am ever so glad he did. With all of the chambray denim, patterned denim, colored denim and traditional denim options out there, this trend is something that every Fashionista/o can find a look with. I think the number one thing to keep in mind when going for the double denim ensemble is to keep a contrast in color. You want to make sure that one piece of denim is a little darker-hued than the other. Pairing together different washes is the key to mastering this huge trend.
A great aspect of this trend is that it involves basic pieces that most of us already have in our closets: our favorite pair of jeans, a crisp white-tee and the perfect jean jacket for the cool, summer nights. This trend allows us to take the staple garments from our closets and pair them together for an on-trend and head-turning look. Break some rules and not the bank—find your own way to master this trend utilizing garments and accessories that you already own.
