STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Date Night Dress

Style Advice of the Week

One of the best things about college towns like Gainesville are the unique, independent places that pop up in them. From homemade ice cream shops to organic food restaurants, Gainesville is brimming with ideal date locations. If you’re like me, you’re probably going to grab your roommate for some girl bonding before you go on one of these “romantic” dates, but if you’re lucky enough to have a guy in your life you could take him instead. This week’s Fashionista nails the perfect casual date attire. Read more and see how you too can hit the town with style!

The Fashionista keeps her date apparel relatively simple, but merges two things I love a lot this spring, dresses and patterns. This dress is a shift dress, an ideal for someone with a petite frame like hers. The coral chevron stripes add interest to the simple silhouette and give the dress a distinctly “spring” vibe. Tossing on a dress is the easiest way to feel a little more dressed up while still sticking to the basics. Adding a pair of brown low wedges also added a little flare to her outfit but keeping a moderate wedge height prevents her from being just slightly too tall to kiss her date.

If you’re looking for a cute date night outfit too, try doing a play on this Fashionista’s choice. Instead of wearing a chevron dress, switch it up and try chevron palazzo pants for a similar effect. Keep the blouse simple, like an unstructured white blouse, to keep the look from getting too pattern heavy. Instead of wedges, throw on some strappy heels and really show your man (or best friend or roommate or whoever) that you’re taking date night seriously. Wherever you go on your date night, you’ll be sure to go in style!
