STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Dark Summers

June 3rd, 2015 at 2:00am

Summer has definitely made its way in Chicago, but it doesn’t mean you have to put your dark colored clothes away for the next season all of a sudden. In fact, you can definitely mix summer and dark colored clothes and still be a stylish Fashionista/o!

A major trending piece of clothing that has been making its way into the stores is the tunic. Not only is it chic, but it’s also perfect for the summer weather! Tunics have a loose fit and are sleeveless which ensures that you will not be too hot when you step outside of air conditioned buildings.

This Fashionista is not afraid to go against the trend of bright colored clothes in the summer. Instead, she embraces her dark colors while still in appropriate summer clothing! She dresses her tunic with black leggings and flats which are the perfect combo for Chicago summer weather. She isn’t too covered which doesn’t make her too warm, yet her dark colors still give off a warm vibe. She also minimizes her accessories with a watch, a ring and a pair of earrings. Stripes are a busy pattern, so it’s best if the accessories are kept at a minimum and the only pattern in the outfit are the stripes itself.

It is still possible for a Fashionista/o to wear dark colors and avoid being too hot in the summer. This Fashionista is a prime example of that! You can wear your hair up, minimize the accessories and wear sleeveless tops that aren’t body hugging!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid to wear dark colored summer clothes. I think it’s okay to go against the trend, and go for whatever is chic and fashionable regardless of the season.”
