“Down on the corner, by the traffic light, everybody’s lookin’ as she goes by. They turn their heads and they watch her her till she’s gone. Lord have mercy, baby’s got her blue jeans on!”
Mel McDaniel’s classic country tune “Baby’s Got Her Blue Jeans On” perfectly describes the beauty and originality of a great pair of jeans. I don’t know about you, but blue jeans have been a part of every good memory I’ve ever had, dating all the way back to childhood. I remember farming potatoes in grandpa’s garden wearing my Osh-Kosh denim. I remember my first day of high school, flaunting my designer Rock Revivals. I remember when I stood on my tip toes to kiss the 6-foot-4 point guard of my high school basketball team, the button of my skinnies got caught on the button of his Lucky Brand jeans (so embarrassing). Indeed, I had some good times in my favorite jeans. Everybody knows you really can’t go wrong with a good pair of blue jeans, this Fashionista included.
This blonde beauty is rocking some distressed, acid-washed skinnies. The fit is perfect for her body, accenting her small waist while also showing off her curves. The fine-striped top is a perfect color contrast, and the looseness of it gives the outfit character. Although I seem to have an accessories infatuation, this week, my favorite thing about this look is the ankle boot. The caramel brown is a great neutral for any ensemble and the baby heel is a perfect height for strolling—or running—to class. This Fashionista’s accessories are subtle, but add a nice amount of detail to her casual style. The gold statement necklace is a must-have!
My style advice this week is to remember the good old days and never be afraid to take your favorite blue jeans for a walk around campus. Just remember not to get your button caught on a frat boy.
