Throughout the year, I have been exploring my new fixation on white and black clothing. I have loved wearing a sleek outfit composed of black on black garments throughout the winter. But now it’s getting warm outside. Flowers have begun to bloom all over Squamish and the forest is lit with bright shades of emerald. With the increase of color comes inspiration for my own wardrobe. Black suddenly seems too dark for the sunny days of spring.
Another thing that comes with the spring is graduation. Ceremonies, parties and celebratory dinners come one after another. I spotted this Fashionista at the reception of Quest’s own graduation. Much like the forest, she sporting a pair of eye-catching emerald pants. She completed her look with a classic navy blazer and a spring scarf. I love how she wears the emerald not just in her pants but also in her scarf and her dark emerald shoes. By playing up color all over her outfit, this Fashionista presents a colorful but refined look that’s perfect for any graduation event.
Designers were not shy with color for their fall 2014 collections. Rosie Assoulin featured bold colors in primary hues in their fall 2014 ready-to-wear line while Libertine mixed and matched colorful patterns in their fall 2014 ready-to-wear line. These two designers show us two very different ways to wear color this season. You could incorporate color with bold solids that present a classic and eye-catching look. You could also mix and match your colors, creating a truly unique and dimensional outfit. Either way, you should be incorporating color into your spring ensembles.
There are many different ways you can wear color. Opt for a bright, solid trouser like this Fashionista did to add a perfect statement piece for events this spring. If you want an all over colorful look, grab a bright jumper. For a simple pop of a color, stick with the athletic trend and pick up a bold pair of sneakers. Finally, combine colors and patterns in different parts of your wardrobe to truly embrace the color trend.
