STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Craving Color

It’s the first full week of spring, and students all around campus are blossoming with style. This season, the pantone color report called for “en plein air,” taking its cue from nature and bringing us both cool and soft color choices with subtle warm tones.

In this Fashionista’s look, I spotted three colors from the pantone palette: custard, marsala and titanium, all of which blend together perfectly. She must have done her homework last fashion week because this look is definitely runway-inspired. Her custard yellow cardigan brings feelings of warmth and sweet sunny days. As the snow starts to fade away, I can almost picture this scene on campus. Her marsala colored T-shirt casually tucked into her distressed boyfriend jeans adds just the right contrast to the bright yellow shade with its rich, bold pigment. Tying together the entire look, this Fashionista kept it classic with a splash of titanium gray using her purse, headband and scarf to add a timeless element to the mix.

So what’s the key message here, you may ask? Mix and match colors! If this takes you out of your comfort zone and you’re scared you’ll stand out (in all the wrong ways) just use nature as your inspiration. As grass peeps through and flowers being to bloom, their bold hues are praised. Follow their lead, and let color take you to your happy place this season. If anything, you are bound to brighten someone’s day with your radiant glow.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Dazzle up your day in color, and don’t be afraid to try out all different palettes. I like to keep one element of my outfit neutral like I did here with my purse because it provides function and can be paired with all my crazy color schemes.”
