Finals are over and summer is here, but Fullerton still hasn’t decided if it will stay cold or finally warm up for good. This can really put a damper on a planned outfit especially when the unpredictable weather isn’t in your favor.
This weeks Fashionista is wearing my favorite new trend for summer: crocheted sweaters. When I say favorite, I mean it. In the past week I have acquired three of these sweaters in various colors and styles. Anyway let’s not delve too deeply into my shopping problem. Yellow, tan or pink, you really cannot go wrong with this cool slouchy top that is versatile enough to be dressed up or down. Proenza Schouler and Kenzo have really great high end inspiration; however, NASTY GAL has a much more affordable version that does the trick. The sheerness of the sweater allows it to be a little sexy, while still being sweet and peachy (literally).
Here our Fashionista is ready for a lunch date with her pop of color in the coral top, paired with some neutral pants. The interesting twist to this outfit is in the cheetah print shoes that instantly make the outfit a fancy, ready to be worn for a more swanky event. Since the shoes are a strong piece, the delicate simplicity of her two rings and small watch balance out with her statement necklace perfectly. Sometimes less really is more, unless it comes to frozen yogurt. Then less is just an empty cup and sadness.
To recreate this look for the day time, pair any knit/crochet sweater with some colored denim. Fight the temptation of going for blue jeans, but if you do then don’t skimp out on some strong (preferably patterned) heels. Accessorize the hands simply and remember, cheetah print technically doesn’t go with anything, so that means it goes with everything.
