In my opinion there is nothing better than a guy who can dress himself well. The not too dressed up, not too dressed down look is major these days for the college aged male. The main trick is to not go too far in either direction and to keep that casual and cool vibe going, which is exactly what this week’s Fashionisto did!
As college students we’re all experiencing the nerve-wracking days of end of semester presentations, speeches and interviews. Sometimes it becomes difficult to decide what is appropriate for such occasions and what is not. To me, this outfit is the perfect example of what to wear for majority of these situations.
I loved the gray alternative to the typical khaki pant from Banana Republic. It put a new spin on a dressier pant, showing that different colors can look just as professional and stylish as the classic. For his top half he picked the perfect color combination of a light blue Tommy Hilfiger button-down and a tan Polo Ralph Lauren jacket to go over top. All three of these designers are classics in fashion and have always been top picks for just this type of chic men’s style. He tied his whole collaboration together with a pair of John Varvatos Chukka boots.
When looking for similar garments, go with the basics. Find a collared button-down or a polo T-shirt in a color that complements you the best. Depending on the season, go with just one layer or find some type of jacket or blazer to go over top. When looking for pants it is crucial to find a style, fit and color that makes you feel comfortable and confident. There is nothing worse than a pair of pants that don’t fit your body right—figure out what works for you and stick with it.
As for your footwear it’s pretty simple, find a nice boot or dress shoe that goes with just about anything and you’re set. Classy footwear never goes unnoticed!
