Polka-dots will probably never go out of style; lucky for you, this makes them a wonderful piece to add to your closet. Unlike other patterns, polka-dots give you much more freedom to achieve various styles with the same piece. Here we have a clean and crisp look with minimal accessorizing which doesn’t overwhelm the delicacy of the spots. Paired with an ethereal baby blue chiffon blouse, the look is lady-like and extremely chic. Each piece on her body holds its own, from the shoes with their two minimal straps to the carefully chosen wrist accents. Everything about this ensemble works so well and exudes effortlessness.
To recreate this look (sorry if I have just sent you into credit card debt) you need the shorts. Getting a pair of shorts that are high-waisted will take the look up a notch by giving it a classic touch, and makes it much easier to tuck a blouse into it. Speaking of blouses, you can basically wear any color up top. And though I normally promote mixing patterns, for this particular look I would say keep it plain in order to achieve the desired look. One of my favorite things that our Fashionista has done (and the easiest) is to button her blouse up all the way. This has made a regular appearance during fashion week in the past, and is the quickest way to turn any outfit into one worthy of the runway. Traditionally a symbol of “nerdy-ness,” this small maneuver completely changes the look and feel of the outfit and is now a symbol of true style.
For accessorizing and footwear, our Fashionista has opted to go with a minimal two strap sandal which is a great staple to have all summer. The simplicity allows for versatility and chicness. Having bracelets and/or watches on both hands also gives the look a different feel. You want to play up traditional pieces by wearing them in different ways.
If you’re ever feeling nervous to try a new trend, take it easy and do one at a time. Eventually when you feel comfortable, you will be able to put it all together and create a look that is unique and chic.
