STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Comfy is Key

Who said going to class can’t be a fashion statement? My style advice for this week is to be comfortable!  I don’t know about the rest of you party people, but some days I’m in class for six hours straight with no break; if I’m not comfy, I’m not happy.

So how do you do it?  Let’s start with the most important part: shoes. My personal favorite statement comfy shoes are Birkenstocks, but if you’re like my gorgeous Fashionista, maybe some chunky retro rad flats will do the trick.

When it comes to pants, you can start right in your mother’s dresser.  Who says you have to be a mom to wear some good old-fashioned mama jeans? I normally find mine at the local thrift store—great value and a great bargain (even better, they can be turned into shorts if you’re no longer satisfied with the long legs).  These types of jeans are perfect for this season because high-waisted bottoms are everything. I normally grab mine in a size too big to turn them into a baggy heaven for my lower half.

My absolute favorite part about this look is the flannel around the waist. This Fashionista lucked out when she scored this flannel at the thrift store. Find a flannel that has multiple of your favorite colors so it’s easier to match with the rest of your wardrobe! Speaking of, this Fashionista has found the perfect minimalist crop top to go with her checkered statement piece.

To finalize this comfy, casual and fun outfit, grab an all-black bag to match the shoes and, of course, some sunnies! Sunglasses are the perfect accessory to not only make you stand out but to protect your gorgeous peepers!

This look is easy, affordable and can be personalized in so many different ways. Follow this advice, and I promise you’ll make it through your long school day with a smile on your face and compliments coming left and right. My most important advice about this outfit and any outfit is to not forget to have fun!!
