STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Color-Blocked

Color-blocked clothing has the power to take any look to the next level. Whether it’s done with a cute dress, a solid accessory or a sleek pair of jeggings, color-blocking can give any article of clothing a boost, no matter what it is.

Often traced back to bright patterns and colors in 1960s couture, color-blocking has stayed around and has become a style that anyone can take advantage of. The bright colors that come along with the trend are the perfect way to ring in the spring season, and brighten up any outfit.

This Fashionista knows how to put her best foot forward for the arrival of spring. She uses bright colors mixed with neutrals like black and different textures to really make her outfit pop. She ties in the royal blue of her fabulous oversized coat in her color-blocked and textured jeans. Her use of color-blocking gives her look a refined accent that is unique to her style. She puts us all to shame for all of our plain old jeans we sport around campus. Her look caught my attention all the way from the other side of the quad! Her accessories are killer as she paired a fabulous pendant necklace and perfectly flattering sunnies to her look. She kills it with her lace-up booties and corresponding black leather backpack so she’s always ready to sprint (erm…strut) to class. Her vintage Disney-inspired wristwatch makes for the perfect arm party that any Fashionista would die to be apart of. Basically, this Fashionista perfectly brings together different colors without making them clash; she color-blocks and she does it well, the way we all should strive to rock the trend.
