STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Cognac and Wine

It is my favorite time of year again: fall! Time to bring out the sweaters and dark lipsticks. It has been unseasonably warm this year in Oxford but there is always a way to get into the fall spirit even when your boots are gathering dust in your closet.

My advice this week is to keep your neutral colored summer clothes on hand and add pops of color and shine with your accessories.

This Fashionista mixed and matched summer and fall clothing, but kept the same neutral color palette. Her black, knee-length dress is belted at the waist with cognac colored belt that matches her cardigan and platform sandals. I really love the look of an oversized cardigan with dainty gold or earthy jewelry and her accessories have the chance to shine. This outfit is very simple but the combination of colors screams fall.

Don’t get me wrong, neutral does not equal boring. A neutral outfit like this allows this Fashionista’s wine colored pedicure and manicure to really pop. Fall is the best time to experiment with vampy colors because there are so many chances to wear neutral and earth-toned outfits.

The key to this look is transitioning neutral colored summer pieces into a fall look and layering. It might be chilly in the morning but steaming in the afternoon and this is a great look that will allow you to be prepared for anything. What better way to enjoy pumpkin spice flavored everything without breaking out in a sweat?
