STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Classic for Class

As college students we all know the struggle of waking up early and going to class, especially when the weather isn’t the best. I find that the majority of female students on campus limit themselves to leggings, a loose sweater and hair in a ponytail with a hat on. I know I am guilty of wearing this exact outfit, but it’s time to try something new! I am all about being comfortable and not taking too much time to decide on an outfit, especially if I am just going to be sitting in class all day dreading the walk home in the rain. By throwing on a rain jacket for a muggy day, this Fashionista’s look is perfect for the weather and she was also able to skip over the struggle of finding a top. Not only does she look cute on a not so great day, but it was so easy for her to put this outfit together.

This is easy enough right? You could even spend a weekend putting some outfits together with a jacket for your week, maybe even take pictures of the outfits that you know look good and can become your go-to outfits for those days where you really can’t prepare in advance. This Fashionista is prepared. She has a jacket for the mix between chilly, sometimes misty and warm that is currently Iowa’s weather. Not only is this useful for the outdoors, but you never know what temperature the lectures will be. I am normally freezing in my classes so I’ll bring a scarf to throw on in the middle of class. I am positive you can do this!

Beat the alarm by putting your outfit together the night before. Not only will this save you hassle in the morning but you can get some extra sleep! This Fashionista paired a trendy and neutral rain jacket with simple jeans, Converse and to top it all off–her backpack! Her outfit is trendy, yet comfortable enough to wear it for the entire day through her many classes. Style at the University of Iowa varies as we have a very international culture. Not only do we have students from all over the United States, we have students from countries in Asia and Europe which influence the popular styles on campus. So don’t be classic for class, be different and be you!
