STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Chunky is Comfy

The feeling of fall has been emerging in Happy Valley, as is evidenced by the cold and rainy weather. However, a little rain never hurt anyone, and the change in weather appears to be welcome. Fall is my personal favorite season, and I love the fashion that is appropriate for this time of year. With the sudden appearance of sweaters and jackets, it is apparent that I share this opinion with many of my fellow students around campus.

I crossed paths with this Fashionista at the end of a long day of classes, and was drawn to her style because it is similar to my own. Feeling the confidence that accompanies a sense of familiarity, I approached her, explained my intentions and asked if I could take her photograph. I was pleasantly surprised and amused to learn that she is a fellow Style Guru for CollegeFashionista!

Though I previously stated that this Fashionista and I share a similar taste in style, I admit that I have never worn a flannel and a leather jacket in the same outfit. This is a trend that I have yet to participate in, as is that of the chunky-heeled boot. In this case, my fellow Style Guru’s example is the one to be followed. She completes this edgy look with a small note of class by wearing a feminine watch on her wrist.

With weather that has been cold and rainy, some individuals have been given a new chance for self-expression through outfit construction. Although this weather may inspire a tendency towards comfort, comfort does not always mean an abandonment of style.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Being comfortable for class does not always mean wearing a flat shoe. You can wear a boot with a chunky heel and it’s just as comfortable…chunky is comfy!”
