STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Channel Your Inner Flannel

Picture a crisp winter Monday morning. Your 7:00 a.m. alarm is buzzing for your first class of the week. As you roll out of bed, your feet touch the cold floor, and you walk over to the Keurig in the corner of your dorm room for your morning coffee. Still half asleep, you have no idea what to wear to class because all you can imagine is drinking coffee while reading the latest issue of Vogue in your pajamas. You look to your right and there it is—your favorite cozy boyfriend flannel. It’s the perfect piece to wear in the winter because it is practical for the weather and still trendy!

This Fashionista caught my attention since her look is laid back and comfortable, but it’s also very put together. While most people think to use a flannel as an outer layering piece, this Fashionista layered her flannel with a gray oversized cardigan. Tying in more gray pieces throughout her look, she wears gray boot socks and a gray beanie. Her light-wash skinny ripped jeans add to her vintage-boho look.

This year on the runway, many designers looked to androgynous silhouettes and pieces that could be worn by either men or women. In her boyfriend flannel, oversized cardigan and beanie, this Fashionista shows off her laid back “girl-next-door” style. A flannel is the perfect staple to add to every Fashionista’s and Fashionisto’s closet this winter!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t hold back with layering the comfiest pieces in your closet, whether its gray on gray or flannel on flannel. Just do it because it’s too cold to not be the comfiest you can be!”
