Style Advice of the Week

Everything seems hopeless when the New England temperature hits the single digits. Sitting in the campus center, this Fashionista was a shining light in the darkness of sweatpants and snow boots. When it comes to the cold weather, this Fashionista turns to stylish layers, accessories and makeup.

Let us start with the shirt. The purse printed blouse is from Burlington Coat Factory. The lightweight fabric is a great winter to spring shirt and is perfect to layer sweaters over. This quirky print is totally in for 2014. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac showed off his offbeat prints on the runway this season (so you know it’s in). Peter Piloto’s collection will be coming to Target February 9th. The line is full of fun patterns, which makes them perfect for replicating this look. You can also find a great patterned shirt on the ASOS website or Paul & Joe.

Paired with this shirt is a dark red suede and fleece jacket. Over the red jacket is a tan cardigan. I love the idea of wearing two layers of jackets. Not only does it keep a stylish student warm, but it also allows a Fashionista/o to wear more than one fashionable item. I love this suede and fleece jacket from BB Dakota. Any cardigan would look great under it.  Mixing a collegiate cardigan with a motor suede jacket is guaranteed to make you stand out in a sea of sweatshirts.

Makeup and accessories are another way to stay stylish in the cold. If you’re still resorting to a sweatshirt or sweatpants, then turn to accessories to amp up your look. A big chunky necklace or a headband will add instant glam. Turn to Anthropologie for your accessory needs.
