Style Advice of the Week

With the changing seasons comes fashion issues such as raising and lowering hemlines, print on prints and the color of the season. It is easy to get lost in the trends. This week we are going back to the basics and then dressing it up with some faux fur!

Our Fashionista this week was wearing a great ensemble, looking really chic on campus after her morning class and when examining her outfit closer, I noticed that she was wearing some basic pieces that are great to have in your wardrobe. I always admired people that could take what could be a simple outfit but then add one statement piece that takes their look from drab to fab and this Fashionista did just that!

She is wearing a basic pink T-shirt and skinny jeans from Target and a white blazer from JCPenney. Wearing a dressy jacket is an effortless way to upgrade almost anything in your closet and once considered a trend, skinny jeans are now a denim staple. Our Fashionista could have gone to class wearing just that and still would have looked great! But she takes her look even further by draping a faux fur stole over her blazer, taking her casual look to a whole new level of chic. The faux fur also gives her outfit some great texture and contrasts well with the bright pink T-shirt and white blazer.

To dress her basic outfit up, our Fashionista wore these show-stopping booties from Macy’s, detailed with gorgeous beading with a golden bracelet and watch from QVC. While out in the sun, our Fashionista wore these chic black sunglasses that frame our Fashionista’s face beautifully. Adding another great pop of color to our Fashionista’s outfit is her red cross-body Prada bag!

The great thing about this outfit is because there are so many basic pieces, you can easily go from a daytime look to a nighttime look. While still wearing the great statement fur stole and booties, switch to dark skinny jeans or a dress and you are ready for a night on the town.

For us students on campus, we long for the weekend and most of us will most likely find ourselves in casual jeans and T-shirts while in class. That’s great because when you find yourself wanting to add a little pizazz to your outfit, all you need is a statement piece like a jacket or accessory and you have taken your outfit from casual to chic.
