Style Advice of the Week

During the summer months, it can be difficult to put together an outfit that meets all of your needs. If you want to look fashionable and you need to stay cool, but you don’t necessarily want to walk around in a tank top, so what is the best option? Layering a top or flowy sun dress with a cute, lightweight cardigan could be one solution. As this Fashionista points out, though, there are some other ways to stay cool, casual and comfortable in the summer heat.

I spotted this Fashionista out to lunch on a beautiful summer day. To deal with the warm weather, she wore a tan poncho and navy blue shorts paired with a green and white print scarf. Her poncho was perfect for the sunny weather since it was loose fitting and didn’t add any extra heat. Her Isaac Mizrahi printed scarf worked very well to complement her outfit and add a great pop of color. To finish off her look, this Fashionista wore open sandals to help keep her cool, and sunglasses to keep the sun out of her eyes. Overall, this Fashionista showed us a great way to deal with a hot summer afternoon.

A poncho is a good choice for a summer look. Free People has a whole array of different style ponchos to choose from, like this oversized one that has embroidered detailing at the neckline. You can also try a crochet poncho with a tank top worn underneath for a different look. Urban Outfitters provides a neat crochet pattern with this poncho that is sure to keep you cool. Wear any pair of shorts and add some Vince Camuto gladiator sandals, and your outfit is complete. With the right pieces, you’ll be able to brave the summer months and stay casual, comfortable and cool, no sweat!
