One of my favorite things to do on campus is going to the campus bookstore. If you’re between classes and have an extra 30 minutes to spare, definitely check out the bookstore and browse through the fashion magazines. It’s a great way to catch up on all the latest street styles of celebrities and see upcoming trends. After looking through, think of ways you can implement those trends into your everyday style. Lately, I’ve noticed that the fall styles are rolling over from last spring. Thankfully it means that it will be easier to incorporate pieces into this season’s style. Months ago we saw leather, plaid and geometric shapes play a key role in the late spring. Now they’re back, giving all of us optimal time to utilize these three trends in our everyday look.
This Fashionista combines the geometric style with an open-knit drape cardigan. Her open-knit drape cardigan displays intricate details of red and blue geometric shapes, resembling a look similar to tribal print. I love cardigans like this because they are versatile, fun and add a boost of color to the layers. Knit drape cardigans are wonderful for days when you’re running late or want to dress up without all the effort. Its knit material is thick and warm as a blanket, yet fashionable. Imagine these cardigans as your “on-the-go” blankets to class, but make sure you don’t get too comfortable in class and fall asleep with it!
Surprisingly, open-knit drape cardigans have become popular items in stores such as ASOS, UrbanOG and Forever 21. On campus, I have noticed girls beginning to wear them to class and nights out. They are so comfortable and snug which make them perfect pieces for the fall and winter. It amazes me how quick Fashionistas can adopt trends in a matter of seconds.
This Fashionista accessorizes her cardigan with brown cowboy boots and a small charm necklace. If you’d like to incorporate drape cardigans to your ensemble, you can add some ways to individualize it and make it your own. You can add a skinny belt with it, layer it with more clothes and bundle up with a scarf if it’s a little colder than usual. These different add-ons can help transform your drape cardigan into new looks.
This Fashionista is a great example of what to look at when thinking about your wardrobe for these cooler months and heading into the winter. With your own accessories and style, you will be prepared for the cold in no time!
