Style Advice of the Week

Though this trend has been around for quite a while, it never seems to go out of style. Seriously, they’ve been popular since the ’40s. What trend am I talking about? Well, it’s the cap-toe shoe!

I spotted this Fashionista from a distance in Westwood Village sporting a royal blue peplum top with dark-colored jeggings. She tops off her outfit with a black leather jacket and oversized, printed sunglasses. However, her outfit isn’t complete without her minimalist, metallic cap-toe loafers.

The thing about cap-toe shoes is that they aren’t always minimalistic; there are so many pattern options and texture pairings to choose from. In addition, these combinations can be found on all types of shoes ranging from flats to heels to sneakers. If that’s not versatility, I don’t know what is.

If you want to go for a shoe look that is similar to this Fashionista’s, opt for simple, solid colored loafers with a metallic toe cap. These loafers from ASOS would serve as a great statement-making alternative. With the weather warming up as the summer months are quickly approaching, you may not want to wear closed-toed shoes, and eliminate the cap-toe out of your summer wardrobe just yet. For instance, these T-bar sandals feature a black, patent leather toe that provide the simple, yet crisp contrast that is characteristic of the cap-toe shoe. These oxfords are another option for the summer since they have a cut-out side. If you’re looking for something dressier, reach for a pair of heels, like these Jeffrey Campbell pumps. If you don’t like the contrast that the metal brings, opt for these heels from River Island that have a more subtle contrast.

Look timeless in the never-fading trend that is the cap-toe!
