The warm weather and sun are finally here to stay so it’s that time of year when you can start to bring out your favorite shorts. Of course, it’s not quite summer but the great thing about shorts like the pair featured on this week’s Fashionisto is that they are versatile. Versatility is key when trying to dress your best during transitions throughout seasons.
Chino shorts are perfect for looking polished even on a casual, dressed-down kind of day. They can be paired with a tank top, as shown on the featured Fashionisto, or dressed up with a polo or button-down shirt. If you have the right pieces, you can even pair these shorts with a blazer for a slightly more formal look. Many brands sell chino shorts and, more often than not, they offer a few colors to choose from. If you are interested in these, I would suggest getting a neutral pair first, maybe in khaki, and then getting the brighter colors. Macy’s has Polo Ralph Lauren shorts and they come in softer colors so if you’re looking for subtle tones, you should take a look at these. H&M has similar shorts in much brighter, bolder colors. If you choose a more vivid color, remember to pair the shorts with subdued pieces to avoid chaos in an outfit.
When choosing shoes to go with your shorts, Sperry Top-Siders are the obvious choice. The good thing about Sperry Top-Siders, though, is that they come in so many color and texture variations and combinations. This two-tone pair of boat shoes would look great paired with crisp white shorts and this light blue button-down. But what spring outfit is complete without the perfect pair of sunglasses? My favorites are this pair from Ray-Ban. Pairing pieces like these will keep you classically cool even when the weather is heating up.
