As we all know, California has a reputation for having sunny days, everyone wearing Vans and an overall “laid-back, go with the flow” mentality. However, growing up on the East Coast, that was definitely not what I saw everyday. The East Coast not only shaped how I acted, but how I dressed. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes I think it’s nice to have a little change of pace.
With all the music festival hype surrounding Coachella and Outside Lands, you can say I’ve been obsessed with all the upcoming street style. Fashion on the West Coast has this certain je ne sais quoi about it, but easily identifiable. So when I spotted this Fashionisto, clearly from California, leaving his house, I had to stop him for a quick picture.
This Fashionisto was on trend, and his tribal patterned Vans caught my attention right away. Tribal print is huge this season, and depending on the print, you can definitely get that particular West Coast vibe. He paired his brightly patterned shoes with an awesome gray pocket tee with fish graphics from PacSun. The pocket tee was my favorite part of his outfit; it was quirky yet still stylish. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different types of patterns when it comes to a pocket tee, that’s what they’re meant for. And, his burgundy colored jeans complemented his shirt’s color scheme perfectly.
So Lehigh Fashionistos and Fashionistas, when thinking about West Coast fashion, don’t think that you can find a uniform look, because you won’t find it. California fashion is all about playing it cool and chic. The only thing you have to remember is to be yourself and have fun with what you wear. The less you worry, the better.
