The California lifestyle has become an inspiration to fashion lovers everywhere. Whether you’re surfing the web on sites like Tumblr and Pinterest, following fashion accounts on Instagram or shopping at your favorite stores, you’re sure to find some boho-chic California-inspired clothing while looking. Graphic tops, maxi dresses, vintage shorts and floppy hats are only a few staple pieces of this laid back lifestyle. Stores like PacSun, Brandy Melville and Free People thrive on drawing inspiration from California and are now probably additions to all of our closets! I couldn’t help but think of The Golden State when I spotted this Fashionista on campus.
In my previous post, I mentioned how layering was so important for the summer to fall transition period. This Fashionista’s relaxed but still trendy ensemble could not be any more perfect for this time of year. Donning a chambray top, skater dress, knee-high socks and combat boots, she looks like she’s taking a stroll through Venice beach.
Chambray tops have officially become a must-have and are perfect for when you don’t have a denim jacket to top off your outfit. I love the way the light blue color of her top contrasts with the dark navy color of her dress. The loose fit is also great because it still allows the dress to show whereas a more form-fitting top would not.
Her floral dress from Brandy Melville is casual enough to be worn with almost anything and these gray knee-high socks are the perfect way to dress it up. The socks really complement her long legs and add just the right touch of fall fashion to this summery look. Her brown combat boots are great because while they’re an edgy pair of shoes, they don’t take away attention from the rest of her outfit. Topping it all off with a nice pair of sunnies, she’s the perfect inspiration for a Cali-loving Fashionista!
