STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Bring Out The Blazers

Sometimes it takes a lot of creativity and planning to spice up your go-to outfit. Often, the answer to spicing it up is an overlooked item hanging at the back of your closet. I know what it’s like to have no idea what to change about a perfectly good outfit. Trust me, I’ve committed the crime of “outfit repeating” many times. How can you not repeat when it gets so easy to just pick out what you already know looks great on you?

It’s reliable to throw on your favorite pair of jeans with the shirt that has been through it all with you. You feel confident and you already know it won’t let you down. Obviously, it becomes your first choice when you’re picking an outfit on one of those “might be late to class” days. Although the outfit might be good, it suddenly becomes bad when you find yourself running late pretty much every day of the week.

That’s when you shuffle through your closet to find a blazer with an imaginary spotlight illuminating it.

One of the main wardrobe essentials everyone should have is a blazer. This Fashionista made a seemingly simple combination an elegant school day outfit. A white loose fitted T-shirt, black jeans and boots, are all taken to another level with the addition of a blazer.

Keeping the color scheme in the same spectrum can easily exude a sense of being put together. In this case, this Fashionista kept it black, white and gray, allowing her to add a touch of color by sporting a classic red lip.

The next time you find yourself picking up the same pieces to wear when you’re in a rush, switch it up by layering on a sleek blazer.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I like to build my outfits around basics and then add a piece that elevates the look. In this case, it would be the blazer. I also like working masculine pieces into my wardrobe for an edgier look.”
