STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Botanical Garden

With only a few more weeks until summer break, the urge to exchange those drab gray-tone winter clothes for warm weather clothes is in full swing. Spring has everyone reaching for those spring/summer staples. Out with the navy and gray and in with the pastels and whites. However, spring weather isn’t always bright and sunny, but just because it’s raining outside doesn’t mean you can’t wear your floral prints to class. Case in point: this week’s Fashionista.

I spotted this Fashionista walking around campus in her bright spring ensemble that’s totally warm and appropriate for the rainy weather that day. Her outfit consisted of an olive-colored pullover with a thicker floral print oversized cardigan on top. The Fashionista added black skinny jeans and shoes. As for accessories, she kept it simple by adding only a burgundy beanie to keep her head warm on that windy spring day. The hues in her outfit were all winter hues (like burgundy and dark green), but an unexpected combination of floral print makes this outfit standout.

I know because it’s April and spring we want to wear our lighter fabrics with prints on them (think chiffon tank top with floral for example), but they aren’t the most weather appropriate just yet. Therefore, a warm cardigan with a floral print is a nice compromise between warm weather clothing and a spring trend. You can still wear something trendy, but be weather appropriate when you are walking outside throughout campus to classes.

What’s your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I like florals. They remind me of spring and sunny weather.”
