Second only to diamonds, shoes are a girl’s best friend. The shoes you choose can lead to an outfit’s success or ultimate failure. During summer, the footwear seen around town is generally the same: strappy sandals, flip flops and open-toe heels. Of course, these have thousands of styles and options and are no less fabulous than their winter shoe counterparts, but summer kicks can get a little worn out. So what do you do to hide those sun-kissed toes for once this summer?
You throw on your favorite boots, of course! Just because the weather is warm doesn’t mean you have to toss all your winter clothing options. There are ways to pick and choose clothing items and convert them to fit any season. Note I said pick and choose, don’t pull out that parka just yet.
This Fashionista picked a perfect pair of combat boots for a day downtown. She matched them with bright blue high socks to give them a little summer flair and counter the fall colors. Her high-waisted shorts allow the perfect amount of leg to show. A tucked in graphic tank keeps the outfit fun and allows her to keep cool despite her cold weather footwear. Her large leather bag balances things out with the same texture as the boots.
Combat boots are not the only option for cross-season footwear, try oxfords, cowboy boots, moccasins or saddle boots to switch things up a little. Boots are an awesome choice for a breezy sundress, shorts and a tank, a maxi skirt or a blouse. Wear clothing that is lightweight and bright so you don’t look stuck in the wrong season and try shoes of a varying height and heel. Pull out those closed toes and knee-highs and get kickin’.
