What did this Fashionista and Kylie Jenner at Coachella have in common last week? Their head to toe black outfits, of course! While Kylie killed it in a black strapless, handkerchief-style top and black scalloped shorts in the California sun, this Fashionista takes a more weather-appropriate approach.
I think wearing all black on the bright days of spring and summer creates a cool contrast amidst lighter colors and fabrics floating around. The jacket and skull scarf combo was the first thing that caught my eye on this Fashionista. I am currently on the look out for the perfect leather moto jacket, and I must say, this one is pretty awesome. I love the quilted patches on the shoulders; they make the arm of the jacket so flattering. This one has the perfect amount of hardware on the front. A few zippers add a good amount of edge to the piece. This jacket from Urban Outfitters is the perfect cut to wear over a flouncy white lace dress like this one from NASTY GAL.
The skull pattern has become a huge trend on the street style scene with scarves leading the pack. The skull scarf is such a chic accessory that can pull an entire outfit together. This Fashionista sports hers in black and white, although you can pretty much find the scarf printed in any color. I love the print in all neutral colors, that way you can wear it with so much more! Try a lighter color like this one with contrasting skulls on it.
This Fashionista continues to follow the color code with black jeans tucked into some of the coolest motorcycle boots I have ever seen. Her booties buckle around the top, and a thick silver chain is draped around the ankle. The relaxed skinny jean carelessly shoved into the boot looks effortless, and the chain around them looks so biker-girl cool. Try an all black outfit topped off with a pair of tough black boots, like these. Pair those with an airy floral dress to amp up your summer style.
Her bag is also a key component in the all-black ensemble. The square-ish shape of the purse boasts just the right amount of slouch to keep it from looking too uptight. The color, the style and the slouch-factor make this the perfect bag to tote your laptop and other school stuff around in from class to class.
There’s just something about the sharpness of wearing all black in the sun that just seems so chic to me. Avoid an overdose of this color when it gets too hot out, but for now, wearing it head to toe is a perfectly acceptable uniform for chilly spring days
