With the last week of classes before spring break, students here at Happy Valley have a mix of daily agendas. There are the ones who unfortunately spend their every hour cooped up in the library with their faces in books studying for exam after exam, and there are also those who have finished their gruesome tests and are now smooth sailing. Regardless we are all daydreaming of sandy beaches or spending time with friends and family, and our wardrobe for classes is far from our minds. I’ve seen more sweatpants and hoodies on campus than every before and I definitely speak for all of us when I say our goal is to get on with break as soon as we can. While studying for my last exam of the week, I found a Fashionista with a great eye for style amidst the sea of sweats and zip ups.
The ever popular and forever timeless black on black look has taken over the fashion world. From the most recent NYFW to my outfit of choice over the weekend, the all black style is an effortless way to stay trendy and chic while still managing to be self made. This trend may seem limited due to its one color variety but in fact is open to creativity. With leather skinnies, backless crop tops and bodycon knee length skirts, the black on black can be achieved in more ways than one.
This fashion beauty chose a relaxed combination that still looks polished and fresh. She paired black denim skinnies with a somewhat sheer high low top. The varying textures she chose makes for a more mixed total black outfit that is fun and fierce. This is a perfect way to master the all black without it looking uniform and dull. She wears a vintage red bralette under her top which adds a subtle color and a slight sense of detail, while she rocks knee high taupe boots to make the look her own. To accessorize she picked some edgy arm candy, a silver spike necklace and a statement skull ring. She also wears her every day glasses and watch that make the outfit even cuter.
The way this stylish college girl owned the black on black trend by adding varying pieces made the look really stand out. When trying to achieve this, look for pieces similar to make the black the main focus while still adding some unique flare. By placing small accents of color or an edgy contrasting boot, the black on black outfit turns into a completely new revamped one. This trend is definitely here for good and I think its safe to say, black is the new black.
