Style Advice of the Week

Lately, I have been very into neutrals. I am trying to incorporate more black and white into my wardrobe because I realized they are very versatile and chic. Plus, they will never go out of style. If you do not like wearing colors, then this two-tone trend is for you.

This Fashionista’s outfit is very simple, edgy and cute. Although Mickey Mouse is considered playful and cute, the design of her shirt makes it darker and edgier. Black and white apparel is very popular in Alexander Wang’s collections, but you can find more affordable pieces from Forever 21, H&M and Zara. You can spice it up with a colorful accessory or keep it simple with silver or gold jewelry.

It has been a decade since the infamous skull scarf designed by Alexander McQueen debuted. I remember when this trend was just lifting off. Skulls were everywhere in fall 2012. They were on everything, from bracelets and scarves to T-shirts and hats. It doesn’t seem like the trend is going anywhere fast. You can find wrap bracelets with these skull adornments at local boutiques and stands in New York City. They are very easy to find online as well.

To complete your outfit, wear a pair of Dr. Martens or combat boots. Combat boots are the perfect shoe for the this time of year. They are stylish, sleek and protect your feet from the erratic weather that is synonymous with fall. I love Dr. Martens and combat boots because they toughen up any outfit you pair them with. You can wear them with a dress and leggings in the fall. I love the juxtaposition of tomboy and girly. I am considering investing in a black or burgundy pair for the fall and winter.

If you have fallen in love with this trend, go out there and show off your style in black and white. Less is more when it comes to fashion, and you will make a bold statement with minimal effort.
