STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Best Foot Forward

Even though it’s still summer and there’s the occasional blistering day, there are still those times when the weather can be unpredictable. One day you’re losing your entire weight in sweat, but the next day you’re trying to dig for the nearest cardigan. I am a fiend for autumn and I’m always trying to incorporate fall clothing into my everyday outfit without having a heatstroke. Another important thing to take note in the summer attire department is to wear pieces that are breathable. Trust me, it’s always a horrible idea to wear silk when waiting for the subway (I’ve learned this the hard way). With that, it’s always safe to go with a happy medium. When I was walking around SoHo, this Fashionista caught my eye and demonstrated how to bring out fall undertones, while looking chic for the summer.

Shoes are important for many reasons: they make or break an outfit, and if you’re planning on walking all day, comfort is the biggest factor! Of course, this Fashionista’s chic burgundy ankle boots made me stop in my tracks. It’s obvious this RAD pair of boots is the staple of the outfit. In order to have one piece of your wardrobe be the most important part, it’s vital to keep the rest to a minimalistic approach. You can never go wrong with a sleek pair of skinny jeans. My Fashion Forecasting professor said the skinny jean trend is slowly dwindling down, but I beg to differ. I believe skinny jeans can dress up or dress down a complete look. She decided to add a classic flair to her look with a lightweight, black long sleeve top. With a closer look, you can see a braided detail, making it an unordinary top. The subtle design of her watch and ring added a nice and dainty final touch. When walking around on a sunny or even overcast day, you can never forget a rocking pair of aviators.

Even if it’s still August, it’s never too early to slowly prepare for the upcoming chilly months in moderation. If you’re dying to rock a pair of edgy booties or that lightweight long sleeve top you’ve been eyeing in your closet, go for it! Make sure you always check the forecast beforehand, so you don’t regret this fashion move.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Before I go somewhere, I always dress for weather and for comfort, especially! Both factors are very important on top of staying fashionable with a minimalistic approach.”
