STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Belt It Out

Uncategorized

The fabulous and always best dressed Chloe Sevigny once said, “Something like a beautiful designer bag or belt can make everything else look richer and more luxurious.” An accessory with that much power is worth a post. This week’s Fashionisto inspires us to pair a trendy belt with our outfit. Designer Calvin Klein showed off his crazy cool chain link belt at this year’s New York Fashion Week. Let’s flash back to fashion week in 2012 when Zac Posen made our jaws drop with his tie belts (can these please be available to the public?). Belts are an easy way to add a statement to a plain or busy outfit.

The featured Fashionisto is a wearing a belt by Nautica. The brand also carries this colorful signal flag patterned belt. I love the needlepoint fabric paired with the leather ends. Vineyard Vines is another great place for a Fashionisto to seek out a stylish belt. Check out this marlin canvas belt. It even has a whale carved into the leather. Sometimes belts can be all about the buckles. JCPenney has this incredible Captain America belt equipped with the Captain America symbol.

For the Fashionistas out there, check out this beaded valley belt by Anthropologie. I am in love with the elegant beads and the petal pattern. I also love this kate spade flat bow belt. A thicker belt like this one is great for layering over a baggy sweater or dress for a fitter look. If you want to get creative, take a look at this DIY belt project by PS I Made This.

Start your fashion this week with a belt. It will get you out of that sweatpants mode we college kids are so easily consumed by and totally boost your style ego.
