STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Be A Comfy, Cute Queen

When leaving the hidden compounds of our homes and venturing out into the open, you know, where all of the other humans hang out, we want to be presentable! We shy away from the traditional sweatpants and T-shirt combo, because their shapelessness is never really flattering on anyone. I’m being honest here. We then tend to sacrifice our own personal comfort for a trend. We wear the shoes we know will make our feet scream or the skirt that is tight enough to restrict our breathing. Pain is beauty right? Well, maybe not.

Listen up Fashionistas/os—you can look good AND feel good too! I came across this trendy Fashionista the other day and fell in love with how she styled her comfy-cute outfit. What made her stand out from all the other comfy-cuteers of the world was her plaid button-up and patterned joggers matchup.

The red and navy button-up was loose to ensure she was never too hot or too cold, and her black and white joggers were made of a stretchy material that did not restrict movement in any direction. This is perfect to wear when going to the library, making a coffee run or just lounging with the homies.

Both pieces on their own were very bold, and this outfit could have easily gone very wrong if she added one too many colors or patterns. Nonetheless, she tied the two together with a basic gray tank top that acted as a catalyst for her more visually stimulating pieces. I admire that she took the risk of using the two patterns, because it really made her outfit unique.

To (literally) top off her look, this Fashionista pulled her hair back into a sporty bun, and rocked a pair of KORS Michael Kors sneakers. If buns and sneakers are not the epitome of comfort, I don’t know what is. She added in a few little details as well to show off more of her personality: simple studded earrings, a mint green sports bra that peeked out from behind her tank and pastel pink nail polish.

What is your STYLE ADVICE FOR THE WEEK? “I want to dress in a way that will make me feel good. Even so, I want to be comfortable so I can do whatever in it. I put on what makes me feel most myself and tailor that to what how I’m feeling that day. Always do you; that’s the most important thing in the end.”
