STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Batter Up

Chances are if you go to a large school like mine, you’ve noticed the jersey craze that comes about on the weekends. Popular at tailgates, day parties, fests…they’re a pretty big part of college fashion. They’re an awesome way to make a totally casual outfit of denim jeans and chucks into something Style Guru–worthy, all while repping your favorite team.

Possibly my favorite part about jerseys is that they’re gender neutral. They look awesome on girls and boys alike—and popular within celebrity culture as well. This Fashionisto, who studies music producing and talent management and even has his own clothing line to fundraise for suicide prevention, has plenty of jerseys in his wardrobe. One of his favorites is this red “Los Rojos” button-up baseball jersey. He pairs the deep-red shirt with black skinny jeans and white sneakers for a solid color-contrasting look and accessorizes with a silver watch. He can take this outfit anywhere from class, to the recording studio to a tailgate. He also wears a plain, white T-shirt underneath in case he wants to unbutton for a more casual look. Something with a white and gold combo would also look great with a pair of black skinnies, and a sports team with a cool name and logo doesn’t hurt either. For fall tailgating when the weather gets cold, you can switch to a hockey jersey to keep warm. If you really wanna dress it up, even throwing on a button-down shirt underneath with an exposed collar is fair game!

“If you’re wearing a jersey and not attending a day party, make sure to keep it simple. Pair the bold colors of a jersey with a dark-washed pant, white shoes and a nice watch.”
