Style Advice of the Week

So you splurged on a new bag. Okay, maybe it was just the only thing you asked for this past holiday season. Either way, you’ve got it strapped on your shoulder and you’re probably not planning on taking it off anytime soon. Solution: fashion all of your outfits around it. Pick pieces that match or pick pieces that don’t, but look to this Fashionista for the most perfectly orchestrated ensemble.

As I passed her on the street, my eyes darted straight to her Alexander Wang satchel. Animal print is a classic bold print. So whether it’s plastered on your cozy sweatshirt or the cover of your iPhone, you can be sure heads are turning your way. (I’ve got a pair of oxfords with leopard detail and they invite compliments every time I wear them.)

Clearly, this Fashionista doesn’t have a problem with second glances, as her pleated skirt and scarf (that very well may be 50 shades of gray) only turn up the volume. The contrast of a polka-dot mini brings out the Dalmatian pattern on her pouch.

Let this wool version from YesStyle bring out Rebecca Minkoff’s cross-body or try gold-embellished lurex from Miss Selfridge with a leather purse. Complement the pairing with a neutral color block scarf, an oversize black sweater and your go-to tights and booties. The look’s casual chic but loud enough to get you noticed, or at least your bag – and that’s most important, right?

P.S. If you can’t dish out the cash for a designer purse, why not save up for a wallet? Of course, it won’t be as easy to show off, but every time you take it out to pay for your coffee, you’ll be making a style statement.
