STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Back to the Basics

With the semester coming to an end and finals right around the corner, it’s easy to get caught up in the end-of-the-semester rush and slowly let your style slip. I always see students around this time of year heading to class in the traditional leggings and crewneck, and to be honest, I sometimes find myself slipping into the same fashion monotony that makes my day-to-day wardrobe dry and straight-up boring. So if you’re anything like me and tired of wearing the same three pairs of leggings and rotating between a maroon and army green hoodie you’ve had since high school, this article is for you. For the Fashionistas out there worn out by the semester and ready for winter break, my style advice for this week is to return back to the basics.

This month’s Fashionista rocks a look made for both comfort and confidence as she pulls together the basic essentials of any college girl’s wardrobe to create a fun and relaxed look that’s sure to draw attention. From her flannel to her boyfriend jeans, both from American Eagle, her outfit emphasizes her unique style and personality while still providing enough comfort to sit through a three-hour lecture or finals review session. Every girl needs a basic flannel to pair with a fall vest, and this Fashionista rocks a perfect basic gray puffy vest from Old Navy. A velvet tank from American Eagle adds a special flare to the look that draws the attention of any passerby by making the “basics” feel not so “basic.” However, the functionality of this outfit is not complete without tying the look together with some white tennis shoes from Adidas and an oversized bag from Kate Spade that’s sure to fit both your textbooks and fashion essentials. For a college girl on-the-go, this outfit pulls together basic pieces that can be found in almost anyone’s wardrobe and creates a look that says you’re ready to take on the world, or rather, your calculus exam at noon and coffee date at three.

So next time your wardrobe is feeling almost as worn out as you are this finals week, just remember to return back to the basics. That’s all for now Fashionistas! Stay #RAD.
