STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Back in Black

December means Christmas Tradition, the annual tree lighting, and the start of winter break for Messiah College students. After finals are over, we’re ready to spend some quality time with friends and family, but this doesn’t mean your style has to take a back seat.

At the start of finals week, this Fashionista steals the show. Her look includes the perfect combination of tone-downed neutrals and glamorous final touches. Nothing says fashion-forward quite like learning to incorporate these two aspects into a fabulous outfit.

When it comes to style, it’s hard to go wrong when you’re wearing black. With the right black pieces, you can still make a statement without all of the bold colors or patterns. It’s a timeless trend perfect for all ages, especially for fashion-forward collegiates in a rush.

The main element of this Fashionista’s outfit is her use of neutrals. The black jeans set the stage as a clean-cut way to pull the outfit together. Her gray sweater has a relaxed fit, and is embellished with a black zipper in the front. To keep the noir vibe going strong, she tops off her outfit with a chic black hat.

For a touch of sparkle, this Fashionista rocks a shimmering gold necklace. As for her shoes, she sticks with a pair of comfortable gray boots, which will keep her comfortable while she walks around campus during exam week.  Her red manicure offers a pop of color and is the perfect shade to complement the black pieces in her ensemble.

Ready to get an A+ in campus fashion? Take a cue from this Fashionista and slay in black.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid to express yourself, and, by that, I mean being yourself. It is so easy to get caught up in the opinion of others and the media about appearance. However, above all things, it’s important to be yourself.”
