Style Advice of the Week

The beginning of the new semester holds many new and exciting adventures. There are books to be purchased, classes to be attended and in the case of many freshman girls, sorority recruitment. While dressing for a day-to-day school life can be a struggle in itself, many girls were forced to expand their horizons for the many recruitment events that went on throughout the process. It was a challenge to dress according to guidelines while still sticking to personal style, but many girls were able to bridge the gap and showcase their personalities through their clothing.

This Fashionista was one such example. She chose to play on the basic black dress by opting for coordinating black separates. Her black crop top features cutouts on the neckline, adding some skin to an otherwise conservative top. She then opts for a black skater skirt to finish things off. As for accessories, she kept things interesting with a chunky necklace accented with spike charms, brown Chelsea boots and a multi-strand bangle.

Although many people will not be going through recruitment, this Fashionista shows us the importance of sticking to your own personal style. Whether it is for a job interview or meeting a special someone’s parents, your clothing reflects you. While there are guidelines for certain events, it is important to embrace your own personal style and not let the guide constrict you. When you wear what makes you happy and what reflects you, you are more likely to get that job, ace that presentation and impress even the toughest critics!
