STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Baby, It’s Cold Outside!

Style Advice of the Week

With the freezing wind and rain and chilling temperatures here at High Point University, students alike are taking cover to fight off the cold. My advice? Layers, layers, layers! In order to stay warm, layers are the means of survival and I’ve found a Fashionista who knows how to create a lovely layered look!

I spotted this Fashionista from her daring approach on a winter ensemble. One of the most defining characteristics of her look are her bright jewel-tone pants. The vivid blue color brings a bit of life to the otherwise dreary weather outside. To tone down the brightness of her pants, this Fashionista has opted for a Ralph Lauren oxford shirt in a classic powder blue. For warmth, this Fashionista has chosen a J.Crew puffer vest in a herringbone print and a pair of matching tan wool socks. Not only is the thick outlining of the vest visually appealing, but it creates a delineating element to her simple and colorful look. She sports a pair of L.L.Bean boots and a knitted scarf and to complete her look, she stacks thin necklaces and a variety of two-toned bangles. This Fashionista has mastered the layered look, all the way down to her jewelry!

If you are courageous enough to step outside in the bone-chilling temperatures of winter, follow this Fashionista for a classic layered look. For an alternative to jeans, try a pair of corduroy pants from J.Crew in a deep maroon. Layer a chambray pull-over with a quilted vest in a classic black and for a few finishing touches, opt for a thick infinity scarf in a heather grey with matching cable knit socks.

Finding fashionable ways to stay warm is a must this winter season because baby, it’s cold outside!
