STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Athlesiure To A Whole New Level

If you’ve read my articles by now and if you know me, it’s obvious that I am not the most coordinated person on the planet. I never played competitive sports as a teen and the only real type of workout I ever had was when I took gymnastics and tap dance for nine years back in my youth. However, I do count the hours I spent in my high school choir room learning choreography for show choir and musicals as a bit of cardio. Believe me when I say that I get most of my exercise from walking everywhere in Manhattan and taking the stairs. Regardless, I’ve always appreciated the chic look of athletic wear. I’ve grown accustomed to the new athlesiure look that’s taken the fashion world by storm and I am a full supporter of it. When I saw this Fashionisto on the street, I knew I had to ask him about his outfit.

This Fashionisto takes sporty and chic to a whole other level. With a mix of athletic and relaxed, he’s ready to take a stroll through the city or attend a sporting event. His penny jersey tank top gives a nostalgic feel of elementary gym class while matching perfectly with his light wash ripped jeans. The teal striped button-down tied around his waist gives a hint of casual and comes in handy for the occasional cool breeze or freezing air conditioning. My favorite component of this outfit is his worn navy blue Converse shoes. With a dated touch, his overall look adds a bit of edge.

Even if you aren’t planning to hit the field, court or gym, this outfit is perfect for any summer get together or just to run errands. It is breezy and comfortable, which is how every summer look should be.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I always do a light to dark rule. For example, I start with a light top and then put it with a dark jean or shoe! It’s my go-to when putting an outfit together.”
