Style Advice of the Week

Fashion can say a lot about somebody’s personality, and that exact point was proven when I ran into this Fashionista on campus!  After spending a little time chatting with her, I came to find she had just the right bubbly personality to match her style.

Her pants are what first caught my eye. There’s nothing like letting clothing speak for itself. This Fashionista chose to pair her Gap patterned skinny jeans with a basic black top and black Oxford shoes. She exemplified the rule that when you have a bold enough article of clothing, it can easily be matched up with basics. In addition, her pants also resemble a trend found on a lot of runways this season dubbed the name Art Pop by The clothing is decorated with bold lines, patterns, colors and even portraits of famous paintings. When you want to bring this look alive off the runway, there are definitely ways you can overdo it, but also make it just right. For starters, it wouldn’t be a good idea to combine too many conversation-starting pieces together. One main reason is because all the colors and patterns can clash, thus taking attention away from pieces that deserve their own individual observation. So, start off simple by finding one bold piece to wear for the day, then you can gradually start adding a few accessories that will complement it, like a yellow floppy sun hat to go along with floral print jeans.

Aside from her pants, her Oxfords definitely deserve some attention too. Although a fall 2013 trend, the Oxford shoe is still a cute complement to an outfit that will give it a classy look with a touch of charm.

Now it’s time for action. Go out to your favorite store and search for clothing popping with art! Whether it’s a cute top or maxi dress, you’ll definitely want to catch this trend while it’s still around.
