In the past, androgyny might have been a topic considered too forward or taboo. Today if you step foot into any women’s clothing store you’ll see racks of “boyfriend jeans” and “boyfriend tees.” Fashionable women everywhere sport menswear, even wearing it better than most men. So when I spotted this Fashionisto wearing this outfit better than I ever could, I had to snap his photo.
This week’s featured Fashionisto wears a striped crop top with a pair of high-waisted riding pants. He makes the look a little more casual and street appropriate with a personally customized jean jacket and a black knit beanie. He completes his look with oxfords, which seem to be the shoe of the summer here in St. Augustine.
If you’re a Fashionisto and you’d like to replicate this handsome guy’s look, I recommend you start subtly. Maybe try sporting riding pants with your band T-shirts and a pair of oxfords. Crop tops aren’t a good look for everyone, male or female. So if you’re going to rock a crop, make sure to serve it with a big dose of confidence – just like the featured Fashionisto.
If you’re a gal, you can totally still replicate this Fashionisto’s look. Or you can go the opposite route and add some men’s clothing to your wardrobe. I personally love the look and fit of a slouchy, cuffed boyfriend jean paired with a V-neck and some booties.
It’s 2013 everyone. Androgynous style is in.
