In the time that I have spent in London, I have noticed many similiarities between New York and London. Aside from the irresistible British accents, funny vocabulary and British royalty, London and New York are very comparable, especially when it comes to fashion trends. The most similar fashion trend is all of the black you will spot people wearing. Black is one of those colors that will always be in style, and will look good on every person; it’s slimming, chic, sophisticated and is appropriate for all occasions.
While trying to get in some Christmas shopping this week, I came across two girls dressed head to toe in black. They both looked so chic that I had to capture both of their ensembles. One of the Fashionistas was wearing a leather quilted jacket paired with a striped fur vest on top. She also wore black faux leather pants and buckled ankle booties. The other Fashionista sported a fur lined black coat with a maroon top, black leggings and black buckle booties. Her look was completed with a long necklace and black floppy hat. They also both had large totes with gold hardware, which gave an edge to both of their looks.
While black will always be a color in style, the styles are constantly changing. This winter I have seen many long, oversized black coats adorned with multiple zippers. I have also seen a lot of black coats with leather sleeves. This interesting mix of fabrics blends classic style with the recent motorcycle trend. Another trendy fashion item that one of these Fashionistas was wearing is her black hat. The wool floppy hat has been everywhere on the streets this season. This ’70s bohemian style hat is the perfect piece to top off your winter look.
With every fashion trend that comes and goes, black will always be an essential color in your wardrobe. It’s great to have multiple black pieces in your closet because they go with everything. Whether it’s a classic piece, like a LBD, or a trendy piece for the current season, you can always go back to black!
