STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Add a Little Plaid

July 28th, 2015 at 2:00am

Weekends are a time for relaxation and dressing comfortably. But while you want to be comfortable, you don’t exactly want to look like a bum. The best way to look cute and comfy? Just add a little plaid to your weekend outfit.

Not only is plaid stylish, but it can be incredibly comfortable depending on the article of clothing you choose. Hence why girls always want to steal their boyfriend’s flannels come fall. This Fashionista takes her favorite fall flannel and dresses it for summertime by rolling up the flannel‘s sleeves and adding a pair of denim high-waisted shorts.

High-waisted shorts are a great way to transition your plaid from fall to summer. Denim is definitely always a safe choice but depending on the color of your plaid pattern, neutral color shorts are also a great option. White shorts go well with blue and yellow plaids and black shorts go well with red plaid. Be aware that by pairing your plaid with other patterns, it could potentially cause your outfit to clash.

Opt for simple, stylish shoes that are comfortable to hang out around the house but also to walk downtown in while you shop. You want your outfit to be versatile and ready to handle whatever spontaneous plans the weekend holds. This Fashionista chose a pair of navy blue slip-on sneakers that matched her tank top and accent color in her plaid.

Paired with her long loose curls, this Fashionista is dressed and ready for a RAD weekend.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I just love plaid. You can rock it whether you’re just watching movies at home or hanging out at a bonfire with friends. Choose a soft, comfy fabric and you’ll never want to take it off.”
