STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: A-Line Boldness

If you’re not including the A-line skirt in your wardrobe, what are you doing? The A-line skirt is experiencing a resurgence and looking to stay for the rest of summer and throughout the fall. Although this trend has a reputation of giving a schoolgirl vibe, this look is now transformed into a look that reads more of a chic, cool vibe, making it a must item for your closet. Musician and style icon Taylor Swift has proved that this trend can be dominated in in multiple looks from different patterns, shades and lengths. With the different lengths this look can transcend from plans in the sun to office appropriateness.

When walking down the urban streets of Michigan, I noticed that this Fashionista made this look a walking statement; it was bold, mature and fashionable. Because of the recent hot days we’ve been experiencing in the past couple weeks, her above the knee look works perfectly and is also appropriate for an evening out or for work. The scarlet color was daring and complemented with a white blouse tucked in, showing this Fashionista’s hourglass curves, fitting her perfectly. This look is works especially for all body types, giving a nice flare from the waist down providing comfort and symmetrical lines.  If you’re trying to accomplish a classy look, pairing a blouse that’s tucked in is recommended for this look. This allows the appropriate coverage without looking like a young schoolgirl. But if you want to inspire a look that has an urban sass, feel free to rock an illustrated or simple crop top to accomplish that daring appeal.

This look is versatile and can be worn with heels for more heights or a simple sandal to provide comfort throughout the day.  Don’t forget, if you choose simple patterns for this look, feel free to complement this outfit with a bold accessory like the bangles this Fashionista is wearing from Alex and Ani or a cute clutch. But be careful, too much can be overwhelming. If you have a bold colored skirt like this Fashionista, a little pop of accessory is okay, but let the A-line do the talking.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK?  “My main focus depends on my intuition.  If you want to feel bold, let the skirt do the talking.  Remember that picking an A-line that fits your body shape is ideal, so pick a look that complements you.  Since I’m not the tallest, a shorter A-line works best for me to provide a long leg illusion.”
