I bought my first jumpsuit about five years ago, when it was quite uncommon to sport the unique style. My sisters made fun of me but I didn’t care and wore it anyways. I was quite happy with my purchase, which was actually a pair of black harem pants that folded up and turned into a strapless jumpsuit. Despite their elusive nature in past seasons, jumpsuits are making a more mainstream appearance this year: this time in fun prints. Needless to say, I have been coveting a colorful, printed jumpsuit for spring.
I spotted a Fashionista sporting an adorable jumpsuit in Umbria, a region located in central Italy. The jumpsuit contained a wallpaper-inspired floral print in red and white. I am a sucker for anything these two colors, so the Fashionista immediately caught my attention. The most intriguing aspects of the jumpsuit had to be all of the little surprise details. The shoulders and side pockets were covered in a mixed print of paisley and stripes: just enough to offset the floral print and add interest. Next were the white drawstring ties, which helped tailor in the shoulders and nipped in at the waist. These unexpected elements were what really made her outfit special and made her stand out as a true Fashionista. The jumpsuit clearly speaks for itself, so the Fashionista did not have to do much to tie the look together. A pair of flats in the coordinating shade of berry red, along with a pair of aviators and a messy bun perfectly polished it off.
Overall, the combination of unusual mixed prints and simple accessories helped the Fashionista achieve a casual bohemian vibe that is perfect for daytime. This jumpsuit could also easily transition into nighttime by adding a denim jacket, a woven cross-body bag and a pair of neutral wedges. Jumpsuits are extremely versatile pieces that are easy to throw on for nearly any occasion. This Fashionista’s jumpsuit is from Forever 21, however I found a similar version from Free People. Rock this investment piece with a pair of minimalist flats and some cool aviators, and you will look effortlessly on trend for spring.
