In the world of fashion, extinction is rare. Trends of the past are simply put in the back of the closet until the Fashionistas/os want to dust them off and wear them forty years later. I don’t know what your grandma does on Saturday nights, but mine crochets. So when the ’70s, Stevie Nicks look was raging this summer, you could frequently find me at my Grandma’s house begging for some homemade pieces. What I love about crochet is that it can be incorporated into every style, occasion or season. One does not have to have a bohemian style or be going to a festival to incorporate the trend.
I spotted this Fashionista on a 95-degree day. Instead of the basic cut-off denim shorts and tee, she upgraded it with crochet sleeved top. It keeps her cool in the summer heat and is the perfect, eye catching accent. An easy, money saving DIY project to upgrade your denim short and T-shirt look is to add a crochet trim to the hem your shorts. Simply purchase crochet trim (which is sold at any craft store) and sew it to the hem of the shorts. It takes about five minutes and is super cute. If you can’t sew you could even try it with fabric tape!
For the fall, it may seem challenging to incorporate crochet because it obviously has holes and you don’t want to be cold. This look is my absolute favorite look for fall. The knit pullover will keep you warm and leather with crochet looks edgy and chic. You can also try a detailed jacket and a new phone case to keep this trend living through the fall and winter months. Be creative!
